One fine nest.
While visiting the zoo this weekend with my niece and nephew we entered one of the aviaries to see the Weaver birds and their amazing nests. My personal favorite at the zoo. Maybe it's the kinship I feel with these little birds as we both use fiber to create useful things.
Ever busy little weavers.
Each time I look at their dense teardrop shaped nests, I'm in awe of their weaving abilities. The trees are filled with their nests like ornaments on a Christmas tree. The bright yellow weavers flit from branch to branch watching us and ever protective of their precious nests. I honestly could sit for hours weaving a coil basket of my own under their trees while they work above singing out their birdsong.
